As the Economy Collapses III

Find a way to make art
while simultaneously innovating your practice
while simultaneously spiritualizing your practice
while simultaneously marketing your practice

Henry David Thoreau was crunching the numbers
all throughout his epic struggle
as documented in Walden
and if you read Andy Warhol's diaries
you will find yourself bored to tears
glazing over the lists of expenditures
he meticulously notated for his daily entries
so as to try and keep the IRS off his back
("Stamps: 3 cents")

In one of my new artworks

How To Succeed in the Art World
During the Coming Global Economic Crisis

I outline a series of artistic methods
and business strategies not to mention
tactical media interventions
that will enable collectors, gallerists,
curators, and most especially struggling artists
to reconfigure their "subject positions"
within a volatile marketplace of ideas

I also use this artwork to demonstrate
via my own example how artists can embody
the universal tenets of an open source lifestyle practice
that enable them to manipulate the media ecology
our panic-driven economy depends on
for its psychosomatic ebbs and flows

Understanding Media
is really about learning how to read
the emotional codework of global numbers crunching
and once you use my new artwork to decode
the myths of the marketplace while revealing
to yourself the secrets of novelty-generation
you will have the power to turn what you lack
into something that sustains you for the rest of your life

Look at me -- I'm writing this
to you from a beach in Hawaii!

When I'm done with this blog entry
I am going to walk on the beach
and generate new premonition algorithms
via my ongoing study of moving-remixing

Moving-remixing is how I generate my aesthetic
or to put it another way it's my operational mode
of postproducing new artwork using my body
as the medium as the message

There can be no doubt that for me
perambulating on a beach with mild trade winds
is the key to rendering high-definition artistic vision

I call it meditative walkology and with the breeze passing
through my body and into my eyes gently massaging my brain
so that I can imagine shapely reconfigurations of random thought
swelling from the Deep Interior and its electrical recircuitry
a flow-space where I can feel the filtered energy patterns become
sculptural indications of inexpressible changes
re-verbing in the vibratory consequence of each micro subtlety
while my heart transfuses new blood music into whatever sensations
are generated on the fly even as my life is on its way
to last chance emptiness of everything I ever envisioned

Tracing the route of its specific narrative circumstance
while shining in the particulate light with sun beheadings
and an early morning fog complicating this decaffeinated dream
there comes a mellowness beyond all rational control
so that the rhythmic consistency of incoming waves
if you can call these soft spoken guests waves
make themselves at home in my writerly comfort zone
that lazy lanai of run execution run slow-walk molt
where the only thing preprogrammed is my mid-morning
wake-up call and the sound of pigeons mourning
the loss of yesterday
too

This is just a taste of what
I cannot create without critique

In advance of releasing this special limited edition artwork
I am happy to share with my primary support network
many of the secrets that influence visionary thinking
and introduce to "creatives" of all ages and colors
whether you are a boy, girl, trans-mammal or
even an Extraterrestrial Alien It-Thing lost in self-exile
what it takes to become a value-added artist-medium

what in Hawaii we call the kahuna

[and yes we must forget the commercial pop ploy
of denigrating great titles like kahuna
(no, your drinking buddy pissing his education away
on endless kegs of corporate piss-producing product like Coors
is not The Big Kahuna just because he out-kegged you)]

There are different interpretations of the word kahuna

Some say kahuna is derived from the word kahu
which means "caretaker" and in this case
refers to the High Priests in Native Hawaiian culture

Others though suggest that when you break it down
Ka means "The" or "Light" and Huna means "Secret"
as in something hidden within that must be discovered

In this latter sense the premonition algorithm
is something that visionary avant-garde artists
are always generating new ways to unearth
reinvesting some tactical legendary status
into what it means for one to devote their art-life
to becoming a moving-remixing technoshamanic
postproduction medium who can really talkstory

How this transformation manifests itself
will always have to come out in the artwork itself

[a spontaneous deliverance of creative matter
autogenerated from The Deep Interior]

but that's all I can say

I am almost giving this artwork away
for free here in the blog

Consider these random thoughts
my homage to the oft-referred gift economy
and if you choose to support my writing habit
and want to partake in our next Hawaiian potlatch virtually
(even if you cannot buy the rather pricey limited edition artwork)
perhaps you would like to buy a very simple yet original
handmarked page that charts a potential cluster
of morphologically resonant thought-data
made especially for you and which I will mail to you
signed by the artist

These simple handmarked artist-signed word charts
go for ten bucks and are delivered First Class
(outside the USA add $5 for shipping/handling
and be sure to include your mailing address!))
